A very unique tortoiseshell veneered card case, dating to mid 19th century England. Both sides have shell panels with intricate geometric designs created by soaking and steam-pressing the tortoiseshell. Interior lip is lined in bone and the cartouche to the top is engraved with "E.B. Perrin." It is very difficult to find steam-pressed shell pieces in such nice condition!
