FINE Tortoiseshell & Mother of Pearl Card Case

An exquisite calling card case, likely of English origin, dating to the late 19th century. This unique example is inlaid with a diamond shaped pattern of mother of pearl and genuine tortoiseshell plaques. The MOP is bright and gleaming, and the spotted tortoiseshell is a magnificent blend of chocolate brown and blonde. With a silver push button and blank name plate. The inner lip of the lid is lined in bone and the interior with its original red velvet lining.

Condition: Great condition, with minimal wear. The case opens and closes with ease, though the latch mechanism no longer functions.

Measurements: 4 in x 3 1/8 in (10 cm x 8 cm)
