A beautiful pair of ivory opera glasses/binoculars, made in France (likely Paris) at the turn of the 19th/20th century. The turned and carved ivory parts are held by gilt mounts, certainly a quality piece. The smooth ivory barrels have a wonderful patina, and are bordered by carved ivory 'beads.' The dial is carved from ivory as well, and extends/retracts the glasses. Looks wonderful on display!
Condition: In good original condition, with no damages or repairs. Small natural hairline in the ivory to the right eyepiece.
Measurements: 4 in long x 2 1/4 in high x 1 1/2 in deep (10 cm x 5.5 cm x 4 cm). Fully extended, the glasses are 2 3/4 in high (7 cm).
