Vintage costume jewelry early 1900's ornate filigree yellow glass luxury necklace. Hello, welcome to my shop. Although this wonderful necklace is signed on the neck of the clasp mount, I cannot read what it is signed , even with my strongest jewelry loupe, it is simply too tiny, and also and incised type maker's stamp, which makes it even more difficult to see. Perhaps made in either Germany or Austria. If you view Judith Miller's costumer jewelry book under Joseff of Hollywood, you will see this type filigree..you will also read some of the pieces have been reissued and are in high demand, however, the original pieces will have an acquired dark patina due to age to the metalwork, where as the reissued pieces will be bright. I did not see his pieces having this type clasp, so, it is simply from that era and more than likely signed the country of origin. It is 16 inches long and very ornate. The center section is 6 inches across, with the medallion being 1 1/2 inches drop. It needs cleaned as when viewed with a jeweler's loupe I see dust around the yellow rhinestones. It's an amazing piece in good vintage condition...please use the Ruby Lane enlarge photo option to view this necklace..although not missing and sets or pieces, the condition is appropriate to it's age. I never wore it, instead, purchased it for it's amazing beauty. I am downsizing my collections. I never kept records of what I paid for items that were to go into my collections...instead, I enjoyed my finds for their beauty and for my pleasure.
