Antique sewing box hand painted lining with original hand painted tape measure Hello, welcome to my shop. I have collected antique to vintage boxes for many years, especially sewing boxes and early sewing baskets. This box has a lacquer finish trimmed in thick hand painted enamel of birds and ferns on the lid, flowers on the beveled edge of the lid. The outside of the box does have some scuffs and chips to the lacquer as shown, however, it's the inside that makes this box and must have. I have the key too, just forgot to show it. The blue is a Robin's Egg blue inside....very difficult to capture the lovely blue, but will promise you will adore it. I am sure the rose buds were added later by the previous owner because the fabric is not the type used for the antique rosettes. Everything else inside appears original. And is clean, no smells, minimum wear. The tape measure has retracted, the tab is inside the body, but, so sweet to have. Even the pin cushion chamber is hand painted. I think the keyhole trim was replaced, not sure. 10 inches long, 7 1/2 inches wide and 2 1/2 inches tall.
