Antique Victorian lady's pocket watch holder jewelry box hand painted Daisy

Another item I have collected through the years are pocket watch holders.

This fabulous box is a ladies jewelry box with the hollow circle for the ladies pocket watch.

The silk lining of the lid is hand painted. The hand painting has survived the years well , and as you can see , the painting is beautiful. The silk of the box area of this item has much wear though, as shown in the photos.

9 inches long, 6 1/2 inches deep and 4 1/2 inches tall .

This box is wood covered in embossed tin or metal. The top of the lid features a beautiful Daisy. The sides of the box have applied bronze-wash embossed metal flowers and leaves. The skirt of the base of the box is rolled and covered with the embossed tin.

The top of the lid has acquired a little white appearance for some reason would be easy to correct by applying scratch cover. The ornate latch works well , hinges work well and are intact...all original.

This is a fabulous item , very well made and very unusual having embossed metal surface instead of the usual paper. And the hand painted Daisies on silk truly makes this item a heirloom keepsake. This box is heavy , not flimsy.
