Folk Art Topsy Turvy Dolls

This is a wonderful early Topsy Turvy Doll with painted and ink drawn features measuring 14inches from "head to head". This is all done in cloth with some hand stitching on the dress. The white doll has a painted face with blue eyes & a white bonnet. Her dress is a wonderful old floral fabric with some scattered areas of staining. Her face also has a stain as pictured. ***interestingly- while photographing this doll and having her well lit, there is a visible shadow of a face beneath her white bonnet. Perhaps when being made, they decided to "try again" or discovered they drew her on the wrong side! It would be fun to remove the bonnet and see what is beneath*** The black doll is also wonderful and the red pattered fabric is still gorgeous and without fading! There is no odor or open areas on the fabric- this doll is firmly stuffed and a wonderful "one of a kind" piece of folk art, made for a lucky little girl in the 1800s.
