Circa 1900s stick pin features an oval amethyst in an open 14K gold setting with a hint of Celtic knot or Art Nouveau influence in its sinuous curves. It would make an elegant tie pin or a lovely scarf, hat, or lapel pin.
The stem of the pin is a touch under 2 ¾" long, and the element on top measures ¾" high and ½" across. A professional jeweler has assayed the metal of the stick pin (which has no hallmark) as 14K gold and found the stone to be a genuine amethyst. The piece weighs 2 grams, and the amethyst is approximately 8 mm. high.
