Vintage 1960s cocktail dress in emerald green satin features a curve-hugging sheath silhouette and striking beaded design: Rows of black bugle beads dotted here and there with an emerald green rhinestone.
Boned in front and back, the bodice has spaghetti straps and is self-piped where it joins to the pencil skirt. The beaded vertical rows, which vary in length and alternate between two sizes of bugle bead, accent the top of the bodice and then reach up the skirt from just above the hem toward the hips.
The dress closes with a green metal zipper and is not lined but rather faced with sheer white organza. It has no labels and appears to be expertly dressmaker- or home-sewn.
Measurements are as follows: Bust 32", waist 24", hips 33", bodice length (from "top" of strap to waist) 15" and overall length 37". (NOTE: Dress would not zip closed on my usual form, so I have shown a view of the back on a smaller form in photo #5).
Good to very good condition, with minor bead loss; 7 or 8 spots that seem to "skip" a bead, most in the top back or sides of the dress (photo #8) and none of them conspicuous or a distraction from the overall design. In addition, there are two very faint dark spots in the front center of the dress (photo #6) and and one near the hem in back (photo #7).
