Vintage 50s Raxon Red Jacquard Satin Wide Tie "Love Birds"
Measuring 50” long x 4” across the blade, the design name and manufacturer of the tie are integrated into the print on the reverse of the front blade: “Love Birds by Raxon”. Of course, the birds pictured here are hardly small parrots; rather, they seem to be a manly cross between a roadrunner and a peacock.
Every Raxon tie I’ve run across has boasted an exceptional design, so I finally did a bit of research and learned that the Raxon Fabrics firm was founded in 1942 by German refugees and specialized in jacquard neckties and other accessory fabrics (at present, their focus is on upholstery jacquards). This gorgeous tie is in very good condition, with no flaws other than 2 smudges of what look like Wite-out on the very edge of the small blade (see photos #1 & #2).
