Vintage 50s Silvertone Bookchain Links Bracelet w/Asian Figure Cabochons

Vintage 50s silvertone bracelet is that classic mid-century phenomenon, the kitschy blend of totally unrelated styles to wonderful effect.

In this case, the hybridization begins with a popular trend at the time—the use of flat, wide connector links (and foldover clasp) embossed to resemble antique bookchain.

Then, each pair of links is topped with a lucite cabochon which riffs on the period’s imbedded flower genre of jewelry (or perhaps the reverse-carved crystal from earlier decades?), with each one containing a parasol-holding molded gold Asian figure against the black ground.

Measuring 6 7/8” long, this bracelet will best fit a very slender wrist! Excellent condition.
