Vintage 50s goldtone brooch gets plenty of visual punch through the luscious colors of its rhinestones—fuchsia pink and amethyst purple--which come in a combination of pear and chaton cuts.
Adding even more interest, though, is the play of asymmetry and balance in the piece's domed contruction. Three sizes of the pink chatons look as though randomly strewn within the star-shaped frame created by the larger purple stones, with the largest pink rhinestone placed artfully offcenter.
Then the pear cut purple rhinestones alternate with twist-wire "cage" spheres tipped in pink chatons, creating yet another frame to offset and harmonizes the playful asymmetry in the center of the piece. Just lovely!
Measuring approximately 2.25" in "diameter", the brooch has several qualities suggestive of possible Delizza & Elster manufacture, from the sophisticated construction to the combination of colors, cuts, sizes and closed- and open-backed settings of the rhinestones. Built-in pin assembly, with all stones prong-set.
This lovely brooch is in very good condition, with a touch of wear to the finish of the "cage" spheres.
