Vintage mid-1950s into 1960s oval goldtone brooch does an impressive job of evoking Etruscan and Architectural Revival brooches from the Victorian era, and is a handsome, extremely well-made piece in its own right. Victorian Revival-style costume jewelry was widely manufactured in the mid-century period, with companies such as Florenza, Goldette and Freirich known for their beautiful examples; though this piece is unmarked, it is truly of "designer" quality.
Dimensional, 3-layered construction, with a mellow, antiqued gold finish to the metal (I've included pictures both with and without flash), as well as a “grained” texture to the reverse of the base oval which helps enhance the illusion of age. Safety clasp pin stem.
Measuring 2 ½” across by 2” high, this 1940s Victorian Revival brooch is in excellent condition.
