Vintage late 1970s Givenchy Nouvelle Boutique silk peasant dress renders its stunning psychedelic floral print ladylike with a sophisticated colorway: Neutral black, cream, gold, and sienna brown enlivened by a vibrant cobalt blue.
A sunburst of tucks frames the wide scoopneck, extending into the shoulders just enough to puff the long sleeves a bit, and a 4" band of matching tucks encircles the waist. There is also a self-fabric sash, fringed at the ends, to tie around the waist. The dress closes with 7 black plastic buttons (to the low hip) in back, and there are matching button pairs on the cuffs to the slightly gathered sleeves.
Unlined, the dress is labelled "Givenchy Nouvelle Boutique, Made in France, Paris" and "Bergdorf Goodman on the Plaza, New York". No size tag is present, but exact measurements are: Bust 35", waist 27", shoulders 15 ½", hips 40", sleeves 23", bodice length 12 ½" and overall length 38". The sash is 3 ½" wide and 70" long.
Excellent, professionally cleaned condition.
