NOS Vintage 60s Joseph LaRose Platinum Leather Pumps
Lined in pink leather with white suede around the heels, the shoes have manmade insoles and leather soles. The 1 1/3" heels are capped with Neolite.
Sockliners are embossed "joseph larose, exquisite footwear" in gold lettering. Size marked is a 10; exact measurements are 10 ½" long from toe to heel inside the shoe and 2 ¾" across the tread.
Joseph LaRose was a renowned designer and retailer of high-end, highly decorative shoes (and matching handbags) who opened his first Jacksonville, Florida store in 1949 and had his first major success with an ankle-strapped flat called the "Yippy Skippy". At the peak of his popularity (in the 60s and early 70s), he sold shoes to celebrities like Joan Crawford and Jayne Mansfield, who died wearing a pair of his boots. He worked with various manufacturers on his coveted designs, and not only did he never offer sales on his merchandise (claiming his shoes were far too beautiful to discount), but he refused to sell a shoe to a customer he felt the design suited poorly.
Excellent, unworn condition, with a 1/8" scuff to the inside edge of the right shoe (photo #6) and a tiny nick to the sockliner of the left shoe.
