Antique Victorian Beaded Reticule Purse w/ Flowers & Village Scene

Mid-nineteenth century Victorian drawstring reticule purse features a lovely beaded design in three horizontal bands: A narrow band of small turquoise flowers on top, then a wide middle band of large pink and blue flowers, and on the bottom a village scene (with house, church or farm, and trees) in turquoise, royal blue, white, ochre, green, and black on a wine-red ground.

The top of the purse with drawstring appears to be cream silk, and the lining a soft brown linen or cotton A deaccessioned museum piece (from the Brooklyn Museum Costume Collection), the purse has ink numbers marked inside the top (photo #8), presumably the museum’s inventory number.

Measuring 8” by 5”, this lovely antique purse is in very good to excellent condition, clean, bright, and with minimal, hard-to-detect bead loss (double click on any photo to supersize all views for best detail).
