19th Century Dutch School Still Life Flowers Oil on Copper

Description: 19th Century Dutch School; a still life of flowers, including morning glories, peonies and tulips, in a sculpted vase, a bird's nest containing eggs to one side, on a stone ledge ; oil on copper; unsigned; mounted in a gilt composition and wood frame; 25.5 x 30.5cm (10 x 12ins) sight (visible painting) size (45.5 x 40.5cm (18 x 16ins) outside frame dimensions).

Our view: Note the beetle on the yellow tulip. We suspect this charming and finely executed painting might be attributable with some research.

Condition: General: In good, ready to hang condition. Detailed: under inspection with ultraviolet light the varnish fluoresces an opaque light green making it difficult to see if there has been any restoration in the darker areas. There does not appear to have been any to the detail but right in the corners there is some lighter opaque green fluorescence which may indicate retouching, but we think more likely some older varnish left when the painting was previously cleaned. The frame has a crack in the sight edge moulding (bottom centre) and a few other nicks and scuffs, but is nonetheless serviceable as is.
