BIOGRAPHY: Renowned wildlife artist Richard Ward was born in Yorkshire but moved to Spiddal, in County Galway in Ireland in the 1960's. He currently resides in Connemara.
He is at home working in diverse environments, the most remarkable of which was probably when he encountered the rare Arabian leopard in the wadis of the Jezebel Samhan mountain range in southern Oman. This event inspired several paintings, one of which became a stamp to commemorate Oman's Year of the Environment 2002. He has also designed a set of stamps for the Irish Post Office, one of which, of a Pine Marten, was commissioned specifically for the World Wildlife Fund.
