Vintage Fancy Hand Painted China Footed BOUDOIR Box - Birk's

A beautiful hand painted square china box - could be porcelain but not being an expert I don't know. Box is set in a gilded footed frame - the 4 feet are some sort of gargoyles. Larger than a trinket box - can be used for jewelry or just a pretty piece to look at!

The box is beautifully hand decorated - honey comb blue and gold design with flowers in pastel colors on a white back ground with some embossed swirls.

Size - 6" by 6" by 3-1/2" high. Marked on the back - Hand Painted - with faint lettering that I can't decipher. Birk's and then maker's mark. Also original paper Birk's label. Birk's was (or still is) an upscale Canadian store).

The latch for the shell handle either broke off - there are remnants of a bar. Top closes nicely but doesn't "lock" in place.

Fine condition - no cracks or chips.
