This 8 inch tall doll, circa the early 20th century, was manufactured by Steinbacher Porzellanfabrik. The back of the bisque head is incised, “610.//G.H.//12/0.” The initials reflect the owner of the factory, Gustav Heubach. Dolls by this particular factory are very seldom seen. This sad little boy doll was in a private collection for many years. He has a bisque solid dome socket head and molded and painted hair, blue intaglio eyes, and a closed mouth. His body is a rather crude five piece composition body but is original to the doll. He also wears his original cotton shift. The boy also wears a cotton jacket and pants with antique red leather shoes. The head is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. He would be a wonderful addition to any collection featuring German character dolls.
