This 18 inch tall doll, circa the early 20th century, was manufactured by the German firm of Kammer & Reinhardt. The bisque head was created by Simon & Halbig. The back of the head is incised, “K*R//Simon & Halbig//122//49” and is free of any chips, cracks, or repairs. There are some typical speckling spots on her forehead. The doll has a ball jointed composition toddler body with original finish. The stringing is sturdy but somewhat loose. The face has an open mouth with a wobble tongue and two upper teeth. She has brown glass flirty sleep eyes and an auburn curly mohair wig. The costume includes marvelous early brown leather sandals and socks, a white cotton dress, white cotton pantaloons, and a blue stripe pinafore. There is old repair and breaks to the delicate cotton batiste sleeves of the dress. The perky character expression of this doll combined with the deep modeling of the facial features and the flirty eyes makes pretty difficult to resist.
