This 13 inch tall doll, circa the early 20th century, has a solid dome bisque head and a bent limb composition baby body. She was made by the German firm of Swaine & Company. The doll has molded hair, intaglio painted eyes, and an open/closed mouth. The bisque head is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The back of the neck is incised, “D.I.//4. There is also a green circular stamp next to the incised mark that reads, “S&Co. Germany.” The bent limb composition body is in good condition but has been repainted and there is some wear to the finish in the crotch and old repair to the big toe of the right foot. The baby wears a darling vintage romper.
