This 17 inch tall china head doll, circa the 1890s, was created by the German firm of Hertwig & Company. The doll has a slightly turned shoulder head with black low brow hairstyle and a decorated shoulder plate with a Peter Pan collar and blouse detail. The head is in good condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. I did not remove the body from the edge of the shoulder plate but can feel the entire china head through the body and it certainly feels complete and intact. The body of this young lady is a leather type material with lower cloth legs and bisque lower arms. It appears sturdy with some old pin holes and small repairs at the joints. All this doll needs is a period outfit to make her complete.
