This 15 inch tall doll, circa 1910, was created by the German Kestner firm. The baby is an early character model with brown glass sleep eyes and an open/closed mouth. The head is incised, "Made in//Germany//211//J.D.K." The doll retains the original plaster pate and mohair wig. The original bent limb baby body also retains the original body finish. The head is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The body does have an old dent in the back of the composition torso. The baby wears an antique white cotton romper with hand embroidered cross stitch decoration. The bisque on this doll is absolutely wonderful and a great example of Kestner quality.
