German Glazed Porcelain Kestner China Head Doll with Brown Eyes
This 29 inch tall doll, circa the 1860s, was created in Germany by Kestner & Company. The 7 ½ inch tall china head has a modified flat top hairstyle with brown painted eyes. She has an antique cloth body with white kid leather arms. The upper torso of the body has been covered in newer white fabric. The body is in good sturdy condition and the head has no chips, cracks, or repairs except for a small chip on the underside of the lower front center edge of the shoulder plate. This may have occurred in the original firing of the head. The doll wears white cotton antique underclothing and a more contemporary dress with antique black trim. This is a lovely large china head with the rarer brown eyes.
