This china shoulder head, circa the early 20th century, was created in Germany by the Hertwig and Company Porcelain Factory. These dolls are often called "Pet Name" china heads as they have molded names on the front shoulder plates. This doll has blonde hair and blue eyes with a slightly turned head. Her molded bodice decoration with the remnants of gilt decoration includes a Peter Pan collar with a tie and the name "Helen." The back of the shoulder plate is labeled, "Patent Appl For//Germany." The doll head is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. There are a couple of inherent firing spots on each cheek that are really quite difficult to see. The dark area instead the shoulder plate is old glue left from when the head was attached to a body. The head is 6 inches in height and measures 5 ½ inches from shoulder to shoulder.
