This 18 inch tall doll was created by Clara Wade in 1959. Clara Wade was a student of doll artist Emma Clear. Clara signed her dolls Clarmaid. This doll has a bisque shoulder head with bisque lower arms and legs and a cloth body jointed at the shoulders, hips, and knees. She has brown glass eyes, and an open/closed mouth with molded teeth. The doll has a black mohair wig. She wears a peach two piece dress decorated with lace. The doll is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs to the bisque. The body is clean and sturdy. This doll has the most beautiful color bisque. She has a great character face with great facial painting. She is signed by the artist "Clarmaid 1959" on the back of the shoulder plate. I am particularly fond of German character dolls from the early 20th century and this doll continues the tradition into the middle of the century.
