This 15 inch tall doll, circa the early 20th century, has a black silk head and a black cotton twill body. She has needle sculpted and embroidered facial features. The hair is also made of cloth and shaped into waves. The doll wears her original beige silk dress with blue hand embroidery. Her outfit also includes a bead necklace, hat, and purse. The lady is in good sturdy clean condition with some age discoloration and wear to the silk dress. This particular doll does not appear to be marked in any way but I have had several very similar ones with tags indicating that they were made in the West Indies. I love these dolls with their distinctive character faces. I wish my camera was able to pick up the great facial features as they do not translate as I would like in my photos. This is truly a charming doll with loads of personality. I love her blue garters!
