German Composition Character Googly Eye Doll

This 13 inch tall doll, circa the early 20th century, has a composition socket head and a five piece composition toddler body. The doll has blue glass side glancing googly sleep eyes and a watermelon smile mouth. She retains her original blonde mohair wig and cardboard pate. The mischievous little girl wears an antique cotton print dress with lace trim. The dress appears to be the factory original. She also wears a white cotton petticoat with old socks and shoes accompanied by an old straw hat. The head is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or repaint. There is some wear to the cheek paint. The markings on the back of the neck are so faint that I cannot read them. The body is in excellent condition with original finish. This doll is definitely of German origin and looks very similar to her bisque head counterparts. I love the expression on her face. She makes me laugh. Who could possibly be unhappy when gazing at a doll like this?
