This 25 inch tall doll, circa 1903, was created by the German firm of J.D. Kestner. She has a bisque socket head and her original finish ball jointed body. The head is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. There are a few of the typical speckles in her forehead bisque but these are covered by her wig. The body retains the original red stamp "Germany" on the hip. The doll has blue glass sleep eyes and an open mouth with teeth. The original human hair wig is just fabulous. Seldom do you see such a wonderful long wig. She also has her Kestner plaster plate. I believe that the two piece cotton sailor dress may also be original to the doll. She does not have any shoes but wears a white cotton lace trimmed factory chemise. If you have been waiting to add a Kestner 171 to your collection, it is going to be difficult to find a nicer example of this sweet young lady.
