Grand Size Vintage Black Folk Art Cloth Doll

This 37 inch tall cloth has such great personality. Circa the early 20th century, she is created from black cotton sateen. The facial features have been embroidered and include side glancing eyes that add a mischievous spark to the doll. She wears a red polka dot cotton blouse with red rick rack trim, a cotton print skirt, white apron, red kerchief, and white cotton pantaloons. Just take a look at the size of the hands and feet on this doll! The doll is clean and sturdy with some fading to the clothing fabrics. The apron has some age spots and staining that make it appear that the industrious lady has been working hard all day. The previous owner said that the doll came from a South Carolina estate. In some of my photos, she is sitting in a regular, not a doll size, chair. She certainly makes a statement and also makes me smile.
