This 11 inch tall doll was created by the German firm of Kammer & Reinhardt in 1909. The bisque head was manufactured by Simon & Halbig. Kaiser Baby was the first of the character dolls that represented children as human beings rather then idealized miniature adults. I have always had a soft place in my heart for this mold with a face only a mother could love. I also appreciate the historic significance of this first in a series of marvelous, but not altogether, popular realistic child dolls. This baby has a bisque solid dome socket head and a bent limb composition baby body. The head has no chips, cracks, or repairs and the original five piece body is in good condition with some wear to the finish. The doll wears an antique white cotton baby gown with appropriate underclothing. I always try to have at least one Kaiser baby listed our site. I hope this one finds a loving "mother" who will appreciate his unique charms.
