This 8 inch tall doll, circa the end of the 19th century, is in all original condition. She has a bisque socket head, open mouth with teeth, and sleep eyes. The black mohair wig is also original and is attached to the original cardboard pate. The fully jointed composition body has a mahogany color painted finish. The doll wears her original grass skirt with tan cotton twill trim top and underskirt. An old tag remains with the doll indicating that she was, at one time, owned by Georgene Faulkner and as dubbed a Hawaiian Dancer. She certainly has the look. Her petite body and head seem to want to pose in rather artistic and musical stances. She is incised on the back of her head with the Kuhnlenz number 34/ 17. The body is in good original finish condition and the bisque head has no chips, cracks, or repairs. I love the ethnic character and modeling of the bisque head. Combined with the original costume and great body, who can resist?
