Georgene Novelties Cloth Uncle Wiggily Longears Doll

This 14 inch tall cloth doll was created by Georgene Novelties circa the 1940s. Uncle Wiggily was a gentleman rabbit character created by author and newspaperman, Howard R. Garis, beginning in the early 1900s. Uncle Wiggily stories feature the rabbit as a kindly elderly gentleman who goes about doing good deeds for his village animal friends. This doll wears his original clothing including his black hat. He is jointed at the shoulders and hips. Uncle Wiggily is in good clean condition with some wear and age discoloration but still an adorable and appealing children's literary character from the early 20th century.
