This 5 ¼ inch tall half doll, circa the early 20th century, is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. She is glazed porcelain except for the base that is a gold painted porcelain with no glaze. The base is incised Germany on the front and with the number 3318 on the back. I beleive the gold paint has been added later. The lady has one arm away with perfect fingers. The plumed hat is interesting because there is a tulle netting decoration around the crown of the hat. Within the crown net are gold sequin type circular object. This netting is attractive on the hat but was probably a later decorative addition. It could easily be removed by the future owner if desired. She has a wonderfully expressive face reminiscent of the earlier china head dolls created by the German porcelain factories in the 19th century.
