Funky German Two Face Painted Bisque Doll by Heubach Koppelsdorf
This 15 inch tall doll, circa the early 20th century has a two face painted bisque flange neck head. The doll is believed to have been manufactured by Heubach Koppelsdorf. The excellent condition body of this doll is cloth and jointed at the hips and shoulders. One of the faces has an open/closed mouth with two rows of painted teeth and sleep eyes. The other face is a crying baby with an open/closed mouth with lower teeth and set glass eyes. The head is in good condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. There are a couple of spots where the painted finish is worn on the faces. One is on the cheek and one is above the right eye cut of the smiling face. The head has a lace bonnet connected at the ears so that it can serve for both faces. The doll wears an ecru cotton petticoat and panties with an outer dress of white Dotted Swiss. This is a most unusual doll. I have never seen one before but find her fascinating. She would be a great conversation piece in any collection and a gem for anyone who collects two face dolls.
