This 16 inch tall doll, circa the late 19th century, was created by the German firm of J.D. Kestner. She has a bisque socket head with a closed mouth and brown glass sleep eyes. She retains her original plaster pate and blonde mohair wig. She also has her original finish ball jointed straight wrist body in excellent condition. The head is marked only with the number 7. She wears the most wonderful antique costume complete with white cotton underclothing, lace socks, and a two piece wool dress. Miss Kestner also wears a red knit hat. The head is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. There is a small inherent spot on her right check and a very small scratched area in the bisque on the right side forehead. These are not damage but just a part of the original firing of the doll head. The bisque on this doll is particularly lovely. When I first saw this doll, in her fabulous costume, I knew she had to be mine for a short while until she goes to her forever home.
