This large and rare child china, circa the early 1850s, was created by the Kestner & Company. The 20 inch tall doll, with a 5 ½ inch tall head, represents a young child with beautiful wispy hair brush strokes around the face. The doll has an antique cloth body with lower china arms. The body may be original to the doll and is in excellent condition. The left china hand has a small chip on the tips of two of the fingers. The head has no chips, cracks, or repairs. There is a little typical wear to the black hair paint on the back of the head. The doll wears a very appropriate antique cotton child/baby dress, cotton flannel and cotton underclothing, knit socks, and leather shoes. This is the finest example of an advanced collector china doll. He/she has been in my collection for a number of years.
