A beautifully carved water buffalo bone pendant of a flower of life mandala is strung with white freshwater pearl button rondelles in this lovely, delicate necklace. The piece is 20-1/2 inches around and fastens with a sterling silver hook clasp.
The pendant is 32mm in diameter and has at its center an authentic (if tiny!) Australian opal cabochon. The ice blue seed beads used as spacers pick up the colors of the opal. The freshwater pearls are 6mm in size.
A mandala, in Hindu and Buddhist art, is any of various designs symbolizing the universe and is usually circular. In psychology, such a symbol expresses a person's striving for unity of the soul. However you view it, it is a singularly beautiful symbol. The carving was done in Bali, home to many pieces of exquisite jewelry.
