This magnificent blue rhinestone brooch was created by Delizza and Elster (the creators of Juliana) for Sarah Coventry in 1964. This piece was a hostess gift given out at Sarah Coventry house parties, and has appeared in several books, including The Art of Juliana Jewelry, by Katerina Musetti, and Collecting Costume Jewelry 101 by Julia C. Carroll
Created with brilliant round and navette rhinestones in shades of aurora borealis blue this piece has earned its name "Blue Lagoon". Marquise cut stones are prong set and form the outer rim of the brooch. They are followed by 2 rows of sparkling blue, prong set rhinestones, At the bottom of the brooch and in the center is a gorgeous, large blue rhinestone.
This is a larger piece and measures 2 1/2" x 2 1/2". Each of the marquise cut stones measures 15.5mm x 7.5mm. The rows of small rhinestones are 3mm. The center, large round cut stone is 10mm. Total item weight is 24 grams. In very good vintage condition, Sarah Cov and the copyright symbol, is marked on the back. It fastens with a long pin and safety clasp.
