Dating to the mid-Victorian era is a banded agate brooch, a popular stone used in Scottish jewelry. The sterling silver frame is hand engraved around the upper edge to accent the stone. This is the natural formation of the stone and all one continuous piece. The thick pin stem is not suitable for lightweight fabrics. It would be best worn on a sweater or heavy woven garment.
Condition: There is one teensy line on the top which is I believe was never polished out, as it does not go through to the back of the stone, it's difficult to see and in no way reduces the integrity of the piece. Otherwise it shows average age commensurate wear with no repairs.
Weight: 11.60 grams.
Marks: None, frame tests sterling.
Dimensions: 5/8" by 2 5/8".
All jewelry comes in a gift box with the exception of very large pieces and carefully shipped in a bubble mailer or shipping box. All quoted shipping charges are approximate. Any shipping overage will be refunded.
