Fresh from a local Maine estate is this lovely Victorian hair brooch under a glass compartment. The hair is dark brown and in a tightly woven pattern. The gold filled brooch frame is plain with four applied flower accents. Inside this frame the hair compartment flips over to show a Goldstone side. Goldstone is a man made stone, a process invented in Venice during the 17th century. This style of pin was a popular design during the late Victorian era.
Condition: The overall condition is very good, showing minor wear and an oxidation spot on the back of the frame. The pin stem, hinge and clasp have been converted to a safety closure.
Dimensions: 1 3/4" by 1 3/8".
