An absolute knockout of a Schreiner Ruffle Brooch all done up in basic black. This striking piece is similar to one worn by Barbara Walters during her interview with Piers Morgan. Hers looked stunning on a bright red jacket, but black of course will complement almost any outfit.
These wonderful Schreiner ruffle brooches are classics, they are the holy grail for Schreiner collectors. The unusual Czech keystone shaped glass stones were made exclusively for Schreiner for only a short time during the 1950's and 1960's, and so are only seen on Henry Schreiner's pieces where they are set upside down, another Schreiner hallmark.
This stunning Schreiner ruffle pin can also be worn as a pendant by means of a hook provided on the back, multiplying its versatility and beauty... so hang it from a chain or ribbon, add a bail, or even clip it onto a strand of pearls or crystal beads... simply fabulous
This dramatic Schriner ruffle brooch is black, black, black, and black. The black central cabochon is surrounded by small reverse mounted black rhinestones and then two layers of the trademark Schreiner keystones, black of course, each in two alternating sizes and set in the Schreiner style, upside down with open backs in a Japanned over copper-color setting. Signed "Schreiner - New York" on a small oval plaque on the back.
This is a vintage piece, it is in excellent vintage condition, worn and loved by a previous owner with some wear to the Japanning. There are a few scratches and an inconsequential small dent on the metal backing of the central cabochon that do not show or distract when worn. I don't see any obvious problems with this piece, and I do try to call exceptions, but please remember it is 50- 60 years old and not new. Measures 3 3/16" x 2 13/16"
This is a fantastic piece to add to a collection or start one. Versatile and elegant. Enjoy!
