19th C Hand Painted Porcelain Bowl - Shell Supported by Coral - 'Marx & Gutherz'

This outstanding piece of antique porcelain is a dramatic and extravagant underwater fantasy. Set apart by its over-the-top shape, coral branches, each different and fully three dimensional cradle a beautiful shell-like bowl... creating an undersea illusion, a reverie. This wonderful piece is ready to grace your sideboard or cabinet. An unusual bowl that will not go unnoticed.

CONDITION is grand, no chips, cracks, or repairs, just some minor and expected wear to the gold, mostly at the bottom of the bowl and the edge. Please take a look at the pictures. The mark dates this piece to 1885 - 1898. Measures 5 1/4" tall and 9 1/4" in diameter at it's largest across the top.

A supremely decorative piece, uncommon, probably rare now since having survived the last 100+ years, this will be a wonderful addition to any collection of antique porcelain. Perfect for fruit or fruits-of-the-sea on ice. Enjoy!
