Antique Gorham Sterling Folding Ruler - 1887 Pocket Rule

An unusual item to be sure, this sterling silver folding rule will bring a smile to everyone's face when you pull it from your purse or pocket instead of a modern retractable tape. Definitely a relic of a gentler time, but still as useful today as it ever was... now how many pieces of technology can you say that about?

CONDITION is excellent, this little ruler is fully functional and shows only normal wear and a bit of tarnish... but where tarnish ends and patina begins is a personal decision, so I have not given this piece a high polish. Hallmarked by Gorham with their right facing lion, anchor, and "G", also marked "STERLING", and the small mark that resembles a fleur-de-lis or a crown at the 11 1/4" line is a Gorham date mark which dates this piece definitively to 1887. Measures 12" long... well, yeah, 1/4" wide, and 3/16" thick when closed.

A charming oddity, this would make a fabulous gift for that special someone. Enjoy!
