19th C Thomas Kelly Print - "Feeding the Swans" - Original American Walnut Frame
Thomas Kelly immigrated to the US from Ireland in the mid 19th C and worked in NY where this image was produced. He was a contemporary of Currier and Ives, and just as well known in his day.
Condition is very nice. There are a few anomalies in the color that are original to the paint application and render this piece unique. There is also some minor water damage on the very left that you can see if you look closely, not a major problem, but mentioned for accuracy. The print remains in it's original 19th C American Victorian Walnut frame with an inner gold filet. The glass is old and wavy, just what you want to find. The print is a large format with an original period treatment that blackened the edges and printed a double gold border, title, and attribution beneath. Measures 26 9/16" x 32 1/2" overall, with a sight size inside the frame of 21 5/8" x 27 1/2". The image inside the black border measures 16 7/8" x 22 1/4".
This old print is particularly beautiful in it's original deep, American walnut frame with antique glass. There is no mistaking a Victorian original for a later reproduction. Treat yourself. Enjoy!
