Graphite and Charcoal Drawing

This wonderful drawing both moves your eye through the picture very effectively, and also imparts an intriguing narrative with great economy and style, leaving just enough mystery to engage the viewer's imagination.

The artist captured the body language of his subjects with remarkable honesty, revealing something universal about the mating habits of us humans. The behavior is all very well observed. The young man slouches nonchalantly, trying to look very casual to the lovely woman while she throws a flirty glance over her shoulder. And the three sitting men turn their heads from us to watch as well, adding another layer to this piece.

CONDITION is great. Signed and dated by the artist "J. Hausmann '?4". I can't quite make out the decade.; the costumes suggest an early 20th C date, but you'll have to judge for yourself. Framed as I found it. Measures 18" x 22" overall, with the sight size of the drawing inside the double mat measuring 8" x 10 1/2".

This is a fun and engaging original drawing. Enjoy!
