Signed French Dutch Boy Figure Pushing Lighted Glass Globe
Condition is wonderful. Signed as shown in the casting, "A de Ramon" (I think), and bearing a separate, applied medallion which says "Fabrication Francaise - Made in France - Paris". I believe the piece is cast in spelter (a zinc alloy), and the crackled glass globe appears to be original, and lifts off for access to the bulb and socket. The piece is painted to imitate bronze; the paint looks a little bright in the pictures due to the piece being well lit for photography. There is normal wear to the nearly 100 year old surface. The lamp switch looks original, and the wiring and plug are old and American, but may have been changed somewhere along the way. It came to me with a 7 watt nightlight bulb which provides all the glow you need to make this lovely piece come alive. The felt on the bottom is new. My guess on age would be 1920's or so. Measures 8 1/2" tall, with the base measuring approximately 11 1/2" x 5 1/2". The lovely crackle glass globe measures a full 4" in diameter.
A wonderful piece in great condition. This little boy is totally enchanting, and his mysterious glowing orb adds a dash of intrigue. Enjoy!
