Antique Spode Soft Paste Pearlware Jug, Creamer, or Pitcher in the Milkmaid Pattern c. 1815 - Blue and White - Transferware - Transfer Ware
Condition is excellent with only two tiny nibbles on the lip... remarkable really that this piece has survived nearly 200 years. There are a couple of brownish stains inside that would probably clean with a little peroxide if you wish. Measures 5 1/8" tall, 4 5/8" handle to spout, and has a 2 7/8" bottom diameter. This early and rare Spode mark was used from 1780 - 1790, but paired with the Milkmaid pattern, I can only surmise it was used into the early 19th C as well. Circa 1815.
A beautiful and early example of this pattern that was to become a classic. The simple, elegant shape seems strikingly modern. Treat yourself.
