Norwegian Enamel on Silver Brooch or Pin w/ Ram Design by J. Tostrup - Norway - Streamlined Design

It was very difficult to photograph this piece, and I have included two views of the front. The first, with relatively solid color is a pretty realistic depiction of what the piece looks like to the eye in color and form. The second view shows the transparency of the enamel, and the underlying textures of the silver base, revealing a pattern of rays and details of the ram's musculature, but the color is not accurate.

Condition is grand. The enamel is bright and glossy with no chips or cracks, and the silver has the warm glow that comes with time. The mark is an early J Tostrup mark with the old 830 Norwegian silver standard that began to be replaced by the modern 925 standard for sterling around 1920. The pin and 'C' clasp are original and still do their job as designed. Measures 1 1/16" in diameter.

This little pretty is the perfect shot of color for a lapel, or pin it to a hat. a purse strap, a scarf... and if you're an Aries, or have an Aries in your life, well... look no further.
